OBITUARY: Ticy A. Retherford

ticyTicy A. Retherford, age 89, Rhinelander and formerly of Tomahawk, died Sunday, Oct. 9, 2016 at Ascension St. Mary’s Hospital in Rhinelander.  Ticy was born May 6, 1927 in Tomahawk to George and Verle Fryar. She married Lawrence “Junior” Retherford on July 12, 1947 in Tomahawk.

Ticy worked for many years with her brother, Pat at the Snack Shack Restaurant, was an accomplished seamstress, and had owned and operated the Hazy Bay Resort on Lake Nokomis from 1959 until 1971. She enjoyed fishing, flowers, dancing, bowling, playing pool and going to casinos. Ticy is survived by her daughter, Sandra Retherford (Doug Bouffiou) of Rhinelander; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, in 2006; six brothers, George, Jr., Nathan, Elton, Pat, Tommer and Shorty Fryar; and half siblings, Ruth Lutes and Leonard Lutes.

Funeral Services for Ticy Retherford will be held Friday, Oct. 14 at 11 a.m. at the Krueger Family Funeral Home in Tomahawk.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday morning from 9 a.m. until the time of services at 11.  Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
