Lyle D. DeLap, age 86, of Rhinelander, died Oct. 1, 2016, at his home. He was born May 28, 1930 in Rhinelander to Warren and Martha (Siedel )DeLap. Lyle attended Zion Lutheran Grade School and graduated from Rhinelander High School in 1948.

After graduation, he served with the Navy for four years, returning to Rhinelander upon his honorable discharge. He went to work for the Rhinelander Paper Company, then worked as a Met Life agent and finally owned and operated the End Zone tavern for many years. In his retirement years, he also assisted countless seniors with finances, taxes and benefits.

He married Joanne Boerke and she preceded him in death on May 2, 1993. Lyle then married Marjorie Cline-Phillips who survives him. He is also survived by his daughter, Dawn (Rick) Fischer of Deerbrook; sons, Randy (Mary) DeLap of Rhinelander, Ricky (Susan) DeLap of Tomahawk and Rocky (Kim) DeLap of Rhinelander; many grand, great and great-great grandchildren; his sister, Judy (Robert) Glockner of Solon Springs; nieces, nephews, other family and many friends. In addition to Joanne, Lyle was also preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Richard and Kenneth.

Lyle enjoyed life in Rhinelander. He was an avid golfer and longtime member of the Rhinelander Country Club. He enjoyed going to all of the casinos. He loved the time spent with his many friends at the golf course and the End Zone, as they did with him. Lyle could “kid” with the best of them and looked forward to it coming back at him. He will be missed.

Private family services will be held for Lyle. You may leave your private condolences for the DeLap family at www.carlsonfh.com. The Carlson Funeral Home (715-369-1414) is handling the arrangements for the DeLap family.
