GIRLS TENNIS: Hodags sweep Phillips to go 8-0 in GNC

STAR JOURNAL REPORT

The Rhinelander High School girls tennis team dropped only three games out of seven matches Tuesday when the Hodogs won their Great Northern Conference home meet over Phillips, 7-0.

RHS’s Ivy Packard and Belinda Weddle won their respective No. 1 and No. 3 singles matches by 6-0, 6-0 scores with the No. 1 doubles team of Ali Schickert and Erica Counter also winning in straight sets without dropping a game. No. 4 singles player Alex Oestreich was awarded a 2-0, 2-0 victory on a forfeit.

The Hodags improved their season record in team play to 8-0 in the GNC and 16-4 overall going into Thursday’s meet at Lakeland Union High School.

No. 1 — Ivy Packard, RHS, def. Gabrielle Von Seggern, 6-0, 6-0; No. 2 — Kristina Jacobson, RHS, def. Maria Surman, 6-0, 6-1; No. 3 — Belinda Weddle, RHS, def. Kayelynn DeLasky, 6-0, 6-0; No. 4 — Alex Oestreich, RHS, def. by default, 2-0, 2-0.

Doubles
No. 1 — Ali Schickert-Erica Counter, RHS, def. Gabrielle Eklund-Amanda Kadlecek, 6-0, 6-0; No. 2 — Katie Krueger-Hannah Stroede, RHS, def. Katie Willers-Jasmyn Kleinhans, 6-1, 6-0; No. 3 — Livi Roberts-Haley Seefeldt, RHS, def. Meridian Shober-Marisa Griesel, 6-0, 6-1.
