donald-wallace-picDonald R. Wallace, age 80, of Rhinelander, died Thursday, Sept. 1, 2016, at his home under the care of Ministry Home Care Hospice.  Don was born February 26, 1936 in Decatur, Ill. to Millard and Edith (Williams). He was married to Susan Larson on June 24, 1957.

Don grew up in Decatur, Ill., graduating from high school in 1955.  Following graduation, he attended Colorado A & M and proudly served in the U.S. Army.  Don and Susan moved around the States where he was employed as a district manager for various restaurant chains and was also a sales rep for the Hoover Company.

They settled in Rhinelander over 43 years ago.  Don was an Eagle Scout with a lifelong love for the outdoors.  He enjoyed camping, fishing and boating.  Don loved to entertain and socialize; hosting many summer cookouts with family and friends and telling stories by the campfire.  He was full of life and had a huge personality.  Don will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Wallace, of Rhinelander; two sons, Scot Wallace and Todd (Norma) Wallace, both of Rhinelander; a daughter, Amy (Robb) Stelzer, of Fort Atkinson and two sisters, Karen (Ervin) Roberts, of Vero Beach, Fla. and Jody (Tom) Piety, of Wheaton, Ill. He is further survived by eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Don was preceded in death by his Parents, Millard and Edith.

In accordance with Don’s wishes, no formal services will be held.  Generations Funeral Home & Crematory of Tomahawk is assisting the family.  Memorials are appreciated to Ministry Home Care Hospice or the American Cancer Society.  View Don’s obituary and leave online condolences at generationsfuneral.com.
