GIRLS TENNIS: Hodags down Thunderbirds, 5-2

RHS now 10-1 in team play

STAR JOURNAL REPORT

The Rhinelander High School girls tennis team recorded its 10th victory of the season in team play Tuesday when the Hodags won at home over Lakeland Union High School, 5-2.

RHS split the four singles matches with the Thunderbirds, with Kristina Jacobson winning both sets in the No. 2 singles and Belinda Weddle also picking up a straight-set victory in the No. 3 singles, and swept all three doubles matches.

The Hodags’ overall season team record stands at 10-1 going into Wednesday’s home quadrangular meet with Ashland, Ironwood and Merrill.

No. 1 — Elodie Martin, LUHS, def. Ivy Packard, 6-4, 2-6, 6-2; No. 2 — Kristina Jacobson, RHS, def. Ali Bognar, 7-6 (8), 6-1; No. 3 — Belinda Weddle, RHS, def. Riley Curtis, 6-2, 6-3; No. 4 — Morgan Ahrens, LUHS, def. Alex Oestreich, 7-6 (6), 6-1.
Doubles
No. 1 — Erica Counter-Ali Schickert, RHS, def. Laura Rodriquez-Rachel Koester, 6-1, 6-4; No. 2 — Katie Krueger-Hannah Stroede, RHS, def. Alexis Fieck-Hayley Fieck, 6-0, 6-0; No. 3 — Livi Roberts-Haley Seefeldt, RHS, def. Reilly Coon-Catherine Trapp, 2-6, 6-2, 10-0.
