STAR JOURNAL REPORT

A 59-year-old Rhinelander man was arrested Sunday afternoon in Lincoln County following the report of a “road rage” incident in the town of Merrill.

According to a release from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, shortly after 2 p.m. Sunday a motorist reported having contact with a reckless driver while traveling south on Hwy. 17 in the town of Merrill. The caller reported the driver was holding and displayed what appeared to be a handgun.

After an officer from the Merrill Police Department spotted the suspect’s vehicle coming into the city and stopped it, law enforcement recovered an airsoft pistol, which resembled a handgun. The man arrested, who has been identified in the incident report as Robert G. Starke, was brought to the Lincoln County Jail where he was charged with disorderly conduct. He was later able to post a cash bond and be released.
