Joan Marie Stefonek, 67, of Rhinelander died July 6, 2016, peacefully in her sleep after a short battle with cancer. She was born April 15, 1949, in Rhinelander to Wallace and Alice Ritchie. She is survived by her husband Thomas Stefonek; their two children, Jody (Tim) Felbab and Jaime (John) McGuane; family friend Natalie Reimer; two grandchildren, Haylie Stefonek and Aidin McGuane; three step-grandchildren, Haley McGuane, Torin McGuane and Timothy Felbab; brother, Craig (Delyn) Ritchie; sister Lorrie (David) Bur; four nieces, three nephews and other family and friends.
Joan graduated from Rhinelander High School in 1967 and then finished school in Green Bay as a cosmetologist. She was then employed by “Judy’s For Beauties” in Rhinelander. Joan married Thomas Stefonek on April 18, 1970 and then became a fulltime housewife. Joan enjoyed playing cards, crafting, sewing, camping, and spending time with her family.
A funeral service for Joan will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 12 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Rhinelander with Reverends Richard Krahn and Matthew Schoell officiating. A visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
The family would like to thank the hospice nurses from Ministry Homecare Hospice for their care and efforts with Joan’s sudden illness.
