STAR JOURNAL REPORT

The Rhinelander Rebels Legion baseball team snapped a three-game losing streak Friday night with a 7-5 victory at Tomahawk.

The Rebels never trailed as they scored first in the top of the first when Brad Comer doubled and then reached home on a single from Tyler Blomdahl off of Cubs starting pitcher Kaleb Kaminksi.

Tomahawk evened the game at 1-1 in the opening inning with an RBI single from Kaminski.

Rhinelander regained the lead with three runs in the third. Jacob DeMeyer singled and scored on a fielder’s choice by Comer. Easton Senoraske also singled and scored with the bases loaded when Blomdahl walked. Kurt Zuiker scored the final run of the inning after being hit by a pitch and reaching home on a sacrifice fly by Brad Quade.

The Rebels extended their lead to 5-1 in the fourth inning on an RBI double by Senoraske, his third hit of the game.

The Cubs sent eight batters to the plate in the bottom of the fourth and scored three runs on three hits that included singles by Zach Volz, Jakob Kahle and Eli Wurl.

Rhinelander picked up its final two runs in the fifth inning when Quade doubled and scored and Eric Grulke reached base on an error and also scored.

Senoraski pitched the first four-plus innings for the Rebels and left the mound in the top of the fifth after giving up a leadoff single to Dakota Thompson, who scored on a single by Jake Rudd.

Senoraski picked up the victory after being charged for all five earned runs on seven hits with three walks and striking out three. DeMeyer closed out the final three innings when he gave up two hits and a walk while striking out four.

Kaminski went the distance and recorded the loss for Tomahawk, giving up six earned runs out of the seven scored on 10 hits with a walk and two hit batters while striking out three.

Rhinelander improved its overall season record to 7-4 and returns to action at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday with a game at Medford.
