OBIT: Edla June Bourcier
Edla June Bourcier passed away peacefully in Rhinelander at Milestone Senior Living on Saturday, June 11, 2016 , with her daughter and son at her side. She was born in Marenisco, Mich. June 26, 1921, to David and Edla (Johnston) Fisher. After living in Bergland Mich. for a number of years and as the oldest of ten children, she and her family moved to Rhinelander where she resided until the time of her passing.
Following graduation from Rhinelander High School, June was employed by Daniels Packaging until she was married to her life-long partner Herbert Bourcier. After the war separated them for four years, she settled down to raise their two children, and she spent a great deal of her time volunteering at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church. This was a great love of hers during her life time, in which she took great pride. As a faithful member of Zion, she was active in the flower committee, Ladies Guild, church dinners, and funeral luncheons.
For more than 30 years, she worked at Marplex Products, doing what she used to say, “typing my fingers to the bone.” She was also a member of the Rhinelander Country Club, where she was an avid golfer for 35 years, enjoying Ladies League and championship outings. After her retirement, she enjoyed helping and taking care of family and friends until health issues moved her into assisted living.
Our mother and grandmother will be greatly missed by her family and will be fondly remembered for her love, understanding, patience, forgiveness and kindness. Rest in peace, mom. We all love you.
A special thank you to Cheryl Bonnie and Yvonne Bitney for their love and compassion shared with June during all their visits. The family would also like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Milestone Senior Living for the kind and compassionate care given to June.
