OBITUARY: James L. Petersen

James L. Petersen, age 79 of Rhinelander, died Sunday, May 29, 2016, at Riverview Nursing Home in Tomahawk.  He was born May 16, 1937, in Rhinelander to Alfred and Florence (Gustafson) Petersen.

Jim served in the U.S. Air Force and married the former Stephanie Person. He enjoyed working in his gardens and spending time in his shop.  Jim will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Jim is survived by his three daughters, Tara Sheppo, Crystal (Mike) Nelson and Tiffany (David) Johnson; grandchildren, Amanda, Jennifer (Caleb), Joseph, Rory, Willie (Natalie), Alexis, Brandon, Julie, Jacob, Kaitlyn, Madeline, Wyatt, and Elenore; great-granddaughter, Persephonie; three sisters, Jean (Gilbert) Spafford, Norma Evans, and Carol Petersen; two brothers, Don (Wanda) Petersen and Leroy (Shirley) Petersen; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Stephanie on October 19, 2013; a grandson, Elliott; son-in-law, Rory and two brothers, Leo and Ken.

Visitation for Jim will take place from 2 – 5 p.m. Thursday, June 9 at the Carlson Funeral Home (715-369-1414). Condolences to the family may be directed at www.carlsonfh.com.
