STAR JOURNAL REPORT

After wrapping up the regular season Friday with a 4-1 home victory over Great Northern Conference opponent Northland Pines, the Rhinelander High School girls soccer team enters the postseason as the GNC champion at 13-1 in league play and 17-3-1 overall.

The Hodags have received a No. 2 seed and open their WIAA Division 2 Regional at 7 p.m. Thursday at Mike Webster Stadium against No. 7-seeded Merrill. The winner advances to Saturday’s regional final to face the winner of Thursday’s game between No. 3-seeded Ashwaubenon and No. 6-seeded Marshfield.

The sectional semifinals are set for June 9 with the title game for the right to advance to state slated June 11.
