Hodag baseball team enters playoffs 14-10 after being shut out at Marathon

The Rhinelander High School baseball team added a non-conference game to its schedule to close out the regular season and in the process picked up another loss going into the playoffs.
The Hodags were shut out Thursday at Marathon, 2-0.
RHS’s Brandon Reinthaler pitched the first five innings and recorded the loss, allowing both runs, one earned, on three hits with four walks while striking out four. Easton Senoraske pitched the sixth inning without giving up a run and allowed a hit with two strikeouts.
Ryan Gassner pitched a complete-game shutout for the Red Raiders, scattering four hits with a walk while striking out eight.
Two of the Hodags’ four hits came in the third inning when they left the bases loaded after Josh Randolph and Jacob DeMeyer both singled. Senoraske and Brad Comer also singled for RHS.
The Hodags, who closed out the regular season 14-10 overall, open their WIAA Division 1 Regional as a No. 8 seed when the host No. 9-seeded D.C. Everest at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Hodag Park. The winner plays Thursday in Green Bay against the top-seeded Preble Hornets.
