SDR sends six to Special Olympics state meet

School District of Rhinelander Special Olympics team is advancing six athletes to the state track and field meet. The team traveled to Merrill May 14 to compete in the regional. Nine out of 12 athletes qualified for the state meet by placing first, second or third in their event.  Each school district is given a quota of students that they can take to state and SDR maxed out at six, so six  students will compete June 9-11 at UW -Stevens Point.

Results the May 14 regional meet are as follows:

  • Spencer Smith (qualifier) – 3rd softball and 7th 100M run
  • Neveah Johnson – 7th softball and 8th 100M run
  • Daray Hawes (qualifier) – 3rd softball and 6th 100M run
  • Sarec Trudeau  (qualifier) – 7th softball and 3rd 50M run
  • Emma Knapp – 4th softball and 8th 100M run
  • Maria Dornfeld (State) – 2nd softball and 4th 50M run
  • Miguel Gonzalez (State) – 1st softball and 7th 100M run
  • Paige Appling (State) – 2nd softball and 6th 100M run
  • Max Everhart – 4th softball and 4th 100M run
  • Keegan Marko (State) – 4th turbo jav, 1st shot put and 4th 100M run
  • Krystal Kriesel (State) – 2nd softball and 7th 100M run
  • James Michniak (State) – 6th softball and 2nd 100M
