Kyle Comer, UMD to play in NCAA Division II baseball tourney

STAR JOURNAL REPORT

Kyle Comer, a third baseman on the University of Minnesota Duluth baseball team and 2012 Rhinelander High School graduate, will be closing out his senior season for the Bulldogs with an appearance in the NCAA Division II Tournament.

UMD, which has an overall season record of 39-14, advanced to the regional for the first time since 2003 and will open the tournament Thursday in St. Cloud, Minn., against Emporia State University, which is 37-17.

Entering NCAA play, Comer has season batting average of .436 with 92 hits, including 13 home runs, and 71 RBI.
