STAR JOURNAL REPORT

Kyle Comer, a senior third baseman on the University of Minnesota Duluth baseball team and 2012 Rhinelander High School graduate, has been named to the 2016 All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference First Team.

Comer finished the regular season second on the Bulldogs in hits (85) and third in RBI (63), runs (65) and slugging percentage (.750). His 18 doubles are two shy of matching the UMD single-season high. He ranks 10th in the nation in batting average (.443) and in the top 25 in runs, total bases (145), RBI and slugging percentage.

His All-NSIC First Team selection is Comer’s first such postseason honor of his career. In the Bulldogs’ four-game series sweep of Minot State on April 30-May 1, Comer hit five home runs.
