Obituary: Susan M Kulis

Susan M Kulis, age 58, of Cameron, formerly of Rhinelander, lost her yearlong battle with pancreatic cancer on April 25, 2016. She died as she had hoped; comfortable, her family at her side and her favorite music playing. She was born on November 9, 1957 in Rhinelander to Weaver and Dorothy (Oberklaner) Carlson. She graduated from Rhinelander High School in 1976.
Susan spent most of her adult life in the Rhinelander area before moving to Cameron five years ago. She graduated from the Northeast Technical College in 1980 with a degree in nursing. She worked at St. Mary’s Hospital for over 20 years. In 2000, Susan received an oncology certification and pursued her passion as a hospice nurse. She was a strong advocate for each one of her patients. She celebrated the life and death of all who were in her care, showing great acts of selflessness on a daily basis. She truly was an amazing woman.
Susan is survived by her mother Dorothy Carlson of Rhinelander; her daughter, Elizabeth Kulis of Cameron; her sons, Bill Kulis of Rhinelander and Joe Kulis of Eau Claire; her sisters, Jeanne (Phil )Stefonik of Marshfield, Patti (Fred) Woolman of Rochester, Minn., Mary Carlson of Rhinelander, Barbara (Larry) Towne of Appleton, Ann (Mike) Mondloch of Lake Forest, Minn. and Carol (Jeff) Perlberg of Cedarburg; her brother Bill (Mary) Carlson of Cottage Grove; nieces, nephews, other family and many friends. She was preceded in death by her father John Weaver Carlson.
