Obituary: Claire C. Stangarone
Claire C. Stangarone, age 75, of Rhinelander, died April 25, 2016 at Rennes Health Care. She was born on April 10, 1941 in Jersey City, N.J. to Sinclair and Helen (McDermott) Brooks.
Claire had worked at the Hugo Sauers Forestry Lab, St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Rhinelander Catholic Central School. In addition to being a wonderful mother, she had extra time to volunteer as CCD teacher, a Brirthright volunteer and was a longtime member of the PEO. Her hobbies included applying her considerable… talents as a quilter(shw was also a member of the Rhinelander Northwoods Quilters), gardening( was a master-gardener in the state of New York) and was an enthusiastic reader. Claire loved to dance and will forever be remembered for her tender demeanor, open kindness and spirited wit.
Claire is survived by her husband James; three daughters, Elysa Petersen, Patricia (Scott) Kolinski and Margaret Stangarone; two sons, James Stangarone and Joseph (Stacy) Stangarone; five grandchildren, Morgan, Matthew, Thomas, Jack and Vincent; three sisters, Helene Brooks, Elisabeth (Donald) Dagress and Susan Brooks; nieces, other family and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial services for Claire are set for 11:30 a.m. Friday, April 29 at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church-St. Mary’s site with Father Randy Knauf officiating. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial is being established in Claire’s name and any considerations may be directed to her family.
