Celebrate Earth Day in the Northoods

By Eileen Persike
Editor
Several events are taking place Friday, April 22 in celebration of Earth Day. The sixth annual Earth Day Fair takes place from noon to 7:30 p.m. at the Newbold Town Hall on Hwy 47 north. With the theme, Food for Thought and Action, the fair will pay tribute to sustainable farmers, gardeners and food purveyors. See informational booths, student projects and research on display, sample foods from organic farms and hear topical speakers.
The city of Rhinelander will be holding an Earth Day drop off and electronics recycling event exclusively for Rhinelander residents. Residents can drop off old or unwanted items at Pioneer Park from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, April 22. There are several exclusions; contact Tony Gilman at 715-362-2728 ext. 1 to learn more.
City-wide cleanup continues Saturday, April 23. Anyone interested in helping clean up city parks should meet, with gloves and rakes, in the front of the Pioneer Park Historical Complex at 9 a.m. Visit rhinelandercityhall.org for more information.
