Mabel (nee Olson Johnson) Streblow, age 98, passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2016, at Milestone Senior Living.

Mabel was born on March 16, 1917, in Jeffries, Wis., the youngest of 12 children who have all preceded her in death. She received her education at Jeffries and Merrill schools. Mabel resided in Jeffries until 1934 when she and her mother moved to Rhinelander.  She married Einar Johnson in 1936 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Rhinelander. Together, they raised their family of three children, David Larry, John Brent, and Priscilla Lee.  Einar passed away in 1982 after 46 wonderful years of marriage.  Mable later married Harold Streblow on January 19, 1990.

She and her sister, Irene owned and operated the Modern Hat Shop, later known as the Fashion Gift Haus for 27 years until her retirement at the age of 73.

Mabel was an active member of Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church , serving in many capacities including member of the quilting group, superintendent of Sunday School, delegate for church synod conferences, and many others. She also served in the R.S.V.P. program volunteering at St. Mary’s Hospital and at the Logging Museum.  She was a former member of the Rhinelander Women’s Club and was active as a participant and director of the short theatrical performances of “Stunt Night”.

Mabel was an avid square dancer and belonged to the Hodag Twirlers and the Lakeland Promenaders dance clubs.  She also loved to ballroom dance.  Mabel was involved in many community and church activities throughout her life.  She will be remembered as a woman who loved life, her Lord, her family, and her loving husband, Einar (“He immigrated from SWEDEN you know.”)

She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, her first husband, Einar, second husband, Harold, and her beloved son, David Larry.

Mabel is survived by her son, John Brent (JoAnne) Johnson of Madison and Mesa, AZ; her daughter, Priscilla Lee (Glenn) Johnson of Neenah and Rhinelander; six grandchildren, Lisa (Ken) Baker, Jonathan (Chris) Johnson, Kersten (Bill) McChesney, Steve Johnson, Jason (Carrie) Johnson, and Justine (Jeff) Morris; 13 great grandchildren, Lauren, Jordan, Michelle, Andrew, Brad, Mark, Katie, Mckenzie, Tyler, Kennedi, Elijah, Kylie, and Cammeron. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, and close friends.

The funeral service for Mabel will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2016, at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church with Rev. Devan Barrix officiating.  Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the church.  Interment will follow in Forest Home Cemetery. Carlson Funeral Home (715-369-1414) is assisting with arrangements and condolences may be directed atwww.carlsonfh.com.

Memorials in honor of Mabel may be made to Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church or Ministry Home Care Hospice.

The family extends a special thank you to the wonderful caring staff at Milestone Senior Living for being her loving family in the last years of her life and at the time of her death.  Also, thank you to Ministry Home Care Hospice for their care and assistance.
