OBITUARY: GENE PAULSON
Gene Paulson, age 83, of Rhinelander, died Jan. 18, 2016, in Rhinelander. He was born July 13, 1932, in Laona to Frank and Eunice (Peterson) Paulson. He served in the Army as a finance clerk in Germany. He taught math and science at Rhinelander Junior High School, was a guidance counselor and finished his career as a math teacher at Rhinelander High School. He is survived by his wife, Adrienne; two daughters, Anne (Michael) Sherman of Burnsville, Minn., and Dr. Mary (Daniel) Gumz of North Judson, Ind.; two sons, Dr. Robert (Amy) Paulson of State College, Penn., and Dr. Thomas (Lisa McNeil) Paulson of Shoreline, Wash.; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Robert Paulson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, Jan. 22, at 11 a.m. at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church-St. Mary’s site, with Father Kevin Farrell officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 6:45 p.m., on Thursday, Jan. 21, at Carlson Funeral Home. A scholarship is being established in his name for a Rhinelander High School student, and any gifts for this may be directed to his family. (Carlson Funeral Home)
