Obituary: Gregory Alsteens

Gregory Alsteens, age 64, of the Town of Newbold, died Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2016, at his home. He was born in Rhinelander Sept. 8, 1951, to Joseph Sr. and Margaret (Gauthier) Alsteen. He is survived by his mother; siblings Andrew (Delores) Alsteen of Rhinelander, Ruben (Debbie) Alsteen of Wausau, Sandra Schnoor and Audrey (Fred) Duberstein, both of Rhinelander, Christine (Dave) Nitzel of Sugar Camp and Gail Alsteen and Carmie (Terry) Winquist, both of Rhinelander; and a brother-in-law, Dick DeMeyer of Harrison Hills. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, two great-great nieces and one great-great nephew. He was preceded in death by his father; two sisters, Susie DeMeyer and Margaret “Sis” Alsteen; a brother, Joseph Alsteen, Jr.; a niece, Angela Felbab; a nephew, Chad Winquist; a brother-in-law, Timothy Schnoor; and a nephew-in-law, Rick Holewinski. Visitation will be held Tuesday, Jan. 12, at Hildebrand Russ Funeral Home from 10 to 11:15 a.m. The memorial Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church (St. Mary’s site) at the corner of Conro and King streets, with Rev. James Hoffman officiating. Memorial contributions may be given to the Nativity of Our Lord Building Fund. (Hildebrand Russ Funeral Home)
