Obituary: Betty Novak

Betty L. Novak, age 73 of Rhinelander, died Monday, December 21, 2015, at Ministry St. Mary’s Hospital. She was born June 28, 1942, in Rhinelander to Peter and Pearl (Rasmussen) Zarm.

Betty attended schools in the area and graduated from Rhinelander High School. She had worked in the maternity unit at St. Mary’s Hospital prior to her move to the West Coast. She and her family had resided in Vancouver, Wash. Betty returned to Rhinelander in 2009.

While in Washington, she was very involved with her church and activities there. Among her hobbies, she enjoyed crocheting, knitting, painting of ceramics, and reading a variety of authors.

Betty is survived by her husband, Albert Novak; her children, Mark (Shi-Lyn) Novak of Vancouver, WA and Tracy Novak of Rhinelander; grandchildren, Jacob and Amanda; great grandson, Brody, her sister, Karen (Ray) Scholtes of Rhinelander; two brothers, Peter (Melva) Zarm and Richard Zarm both of Rhinelander; sister-in-law, Judy Zarm of Rhinelander; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant sister, Barbara; brother, Russell; and sister-in-law, Debra.

The funeral service for Betty will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 26, at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Rhinelander with Revs. Kari and Timothy Vadis officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the church. Carlson Funeral Home (715-369-1414) is assisting the family and condolences may be directed atwww.carlsonfh.com.
