For the Star Journal

For more than 32 years, a Lions Club in Rhinelander has been making it possible for everyone in the community to share a Christmas dinner. The Rhinelander Lions Club, and formerly the Hodag Lions Club, sponsors of the “Christmas Not Alone Dinner” are finalizing plans and gathering volunteers to help serve turkey and all the trimmings Friday December 25 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
New this year is the location. The meal will be served at Nativity of Our Lord Church, 1360 N. Stevens Street, in Kohlbeck Hall. Parking is available behind the church facility and patrons are asked to enter through door number 5.
The Lions welcome volunteers to assist with meal preparation, such as peeling potatoes, on December 24 at 8 a.m. and on December 25 to assist in serving the meal beginning at 11 a.m. Volunteers may contact Tom at 715-362-6534. Dick, at 715-490-1899 or Harry, 715-360-2549.
Rapid Cab is offering a ride to those who need transportation. Call 715-365-7433 to arrange a ride. Meals can also be home delivered in the Rhinelander area by calling, before December 24, 715-282-5904, 715-490-1899 or 715-362-6534.
According to Club President, Barbara Haenel, money raised through Lions food booths, the Fisheree and other activities allows the Lions to give back to the community in this and other ways.
