The bobcat, fisher and otter harvest seasons are upon us! This may be an exciting time for a first-time permit holder. But what do you do when you bag one of these furbearers? Bobcat, fisher and otter must be reported 24 hours after the time of harvest by calling (800) 994-6673.

All bobcat, fisher and otter must be registered in-person by the 5th day of the month following the month of harvest (for example: Dec. 5 if harvested in November). The pelt must be separated from the carcass when registering. The DNR will be collecting bobcat carcasses, otter carcasses and fisher skulls at the time of registration for species management and research purposes. Please contact your local Conservation Warden for registration dates and locations. You can find contact information for your local warden at dnr.wi.gov and searching keyword “trap”. Look for the link under the “Fur tagging dates” heading.
