On Saturday, Nov. 14, 40 general and vocal music students in grades five through eleven participated in the 23rd annual music festival “Singing in Wisconsin.”  Sponsored by the Wisconsin Choral Directors Association, the festival took place at four sites around the state; Chilton, Chippewa Falls, West Milwaukee and Wausau, where singers performed the same songs at concerts held simultaneously. Three Lakes School District students attended the festival at Wausau West High School, which included four groups:  Youth Choir, grades 5 and 6; Young Women’s Choir, grades 7, 8, and 9; Young Men’s Choir, grades 7, 8, and 9; and the High School Mixed Choir, grades 9-12.

Singers from Sugar Camp Elementary School attending the festival were: Joey Aldag, Leta Cole, Pierssen Czaplinski, Eleanor Domnick, Amber Hoban, Luke Hoban, Zoie McDonald, Jasmine Neumann and Kara Sowinski.

Attending from Three Lakes Elementary were:  Dominick Anderson, Madeline DuPuis, Devin Kevilus, Sylvia Klotz, Shaun Kubiak, Emily LeBuis, Megan Lester, Karmyn Meixner, Brayden Philyaw, Stella Polcaster, Kenzie Stebbeds, Kylee Swendson, Olivia Terlizzi, Emily Vold, Jacob Vold, Kallie Volk, Karlee Weavers and Gabe West.

Three Lakes Junior High singers were:  David Kaufman, Christinia Kubiak, and Liz Vold.  High School singers were:  Savannah Edwards, Ayla Fairchild, Hayley Kincaid, Makenna Kalata, Lucy Kaufman, Hadley Miles, Romi Remick, Emily Schmitt, Cara Swendson and Cheyanne Warren.

Singers learned four songs and rehearsed all day with guest clinicians, including university level music staff.  They performed at a 4:00 concert, which was attended by a large audience, including many parents and family members of Sugar Camp and Three Lakes students.

Participation in the Singing in Wisconsin Festival is made possible for elementary music and choir students whose teacher is a member of the Wisconsin Choral Directors Association.
