Working in teams, Rhinelander High School students were charged with creating a new product for an old company during the "Mini Business World" event at CAVOC. After each group presented its product, students voted on the best.

Nearly 100 Rhinelander High School students filled the Ced Vig Outdoor Classroom (CAVOC) lodge Wednesday for  the annual Mini Business World. The event is co-sponsored by the School District of Rhinelander, Rhinelander Partner’s in Education (PIE), and Wisconsin Public Service (WPS) .

“Mini Business World” programs are one-day workshops held in communities around the state. Programs in Door County, Dane County, Walworth County, Horicon, Wausau and Rhinelander have been well received by the participating teachers and students.

After a brief introduction to the program, students broke up into teams of 5-7  and were tasked with taking over an old, out-dated company and giving it a new image. Included in the image makeover was a new product, marketing strategy, logo and tagline. Students made  formal presentations at the end of the day with the students voting on the best.

In addition to their original project, kids hear about careers, resume building, networking and workplace skills.

See the November 1 Star Journal for more information on the Mini Business World event.
