Eugene L. Simineau, age 80 of Rhinelander, died Sunday, September 6, 2015, at Ministry St. Mary’s Hospital. He was born  October 27, 1934, in Wabeno to Joseph and Etta Simineau.
Eugene attended school in Wabeno and was employed by Connor Lumber. He married his wife, Bonita on January 1, 1974, and they resided in Florence before moving to Rhinelander 30 years ago. Eugene was employed with the government commodity program, Headwaters, and finally with the Rhinelander Animal Shelter where he found much satisfaction working with the animals; adopting two dogs for his own home. He enjoyed reading, puzzle books, and when his health allowed, walks. He will be fondly remembered for his sense of humor, known as a bit of a jokester and as a true people person who loved to visit with everyone he met. He also enjoyed camping in the Wabeno area where he could visit with old friends.
Eugene is survived by his wife, Bonita of Rhinelander; children, Bill (Pat Knutson) Scheffler of Florence, Goldie Scheffler of Rhinelander, Wayne Scheffler of Rhinelander, Robert Scheffler of Rhinelander, and Phillip (Deb) Scheffler of Missouri; three grandchildren, Veronica, Billie Joe and Autumn Rose; a great-grandson, Matthew; as well as nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, and sisters.
At Eugene’s request, there will be no formal funeral services. Carlson Funeral Home (715-369-1414 / www.carlsonfh.com) is assisting the family.
