Obituary: Brian C. Lenten
Brian C. Lenten, 59, of Rhinelander, passed from this life to his eternal home on Wednesday, August 12, 2015, in his home surrounded by his family and his constant companion, Billy, who was truly one man’s best friend. Brian was born on December 28, 1955 to Richard and Nancy Lenten in Milwaukee and grew up in the Milwaukee suburb of Greendale, where he graduated from Greendale High School in 1974.
Brian always described himself as a pretty simple guy who loved his family, as well as, or maybe even a little more than hunting, fishing, bringing anything mechanical “back to life” (his words…a definite god complex), hanging out with guys in his workshop, playing his guitar, enjoying a good German beer, watching the Green Bay Packers, sci-fi movies and, yes, Three Stooges, John Deere tractors, and spoiling his dog to pieces. Oh, and work. Brian loved to work and enjoyed a career that spanned more than three decades as a Quality Manager in the manufacturing sector. Over the years he worked at Wiza Industries, Muskego; HyPro, Inc., Rhinelander; Oldenburg Group, Inc., Rhinelander; and finishing out his career at Oneida Tool and Machine Corp., Rhinelander. Brian was a black and white kind of guy and believed wholeheartedly that if you’re going to do something then you better do it right. His exacting (mathematical) nature was tempered by an incredible sense of humor and a penchant for practical jokes. Brian truly enjoyed helping people and never hesitated to drop what he was doing to lend a hand to a friend or neighbor. He lived a very practical, hands-on faith in Jesus Christ, his personal savior, which to him meant not complaining, being grateful for everything and reaching out to help others.
Brian is survived by his wife of thirty years, Laurie; children, Trevor (Rebecca) of Marshfield, Emily and Austin of Rhinelander and stepson, Guy (Nikki) Letson of Minneapolis, Minnesota; mother; Nancy Lenten, Greendale; two brothers; Richard Lenten, Milwaukee and David Lenten, Tomah; two sisters; Kathryn Lenten, Milwaukee and Lenore (Ron) Lenten-Greenwald, Greendale; beloved nieces and nephews Maria (John) Cantarelli- Voermans, Greendale, Rachel Hickey, Madison, Nathan Hickey, Greendale, Clay Robertson, Fort Bragg, North Carolina, Johnathon Lenten, Marshfield and James Lenten, Marshfield; uncle, Jack (CJ) Lenten, Denver, Colorado; fishing buddy, Phillip McCoy, Rhinelander and Billy, the dog, Rhinelander.
Visitation for Brian will be on Saturday, August 15, 2015, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. at Carlson Funeral Home.
