Large truckload moving through the area means power outages

Wisconsin Public Service is alerting customers that there will be power outages throughout its service area today and Thursday, July 16. A large fiberglass tank is being shipped by truck from Wisconsin Rapids to Saskatchewan, Canada through the WPS service area in central and northern Wisconsin.
Many utilities, cable, and telephone companies will be involved along the route, which generally goes from Wisconsin Rapids through Bancroft, Antigo, Eagle River and Minocqua, and exits WPS territory traveling west to Minnesota.

Many WPS electric crews will be involved to raise or drop power lines across roads along the route. Some customers who live along the route could experience outages of 30-60 minutes if power must be cut off to accommodate the move.
Here’s the move schedule through WPS service area, done in 2 phases (times approximate):
Phase 1 – Wisconsin Rapids to Eagle River, Tuesday July 14
9 a.m. – Depart Wisconsin Rapids along Hwy. 54.
2 p.m. – Depart Stevens Point Area.
5 p.m. – Arrive Eagle River near Fairgrounds for evening.
Phase 2 – Eagle River to edge of WPS territory West of Minocqua, Thursday July 16
2 a.m. – Depart Eagle River Fairgrounds along Hwy 70 West to western of WPS territory west of Minocqua
