Summer school in Rhinelander has something for everyone

Student Dylan Hopfensperger and his teacher, Katrina Thorsen, watch as they launch a rocket that he constructed by himself. This class uses a hands-on approach to the study of flight and the construction of rockets.

Dawsyn Barkus has a wonderful time creating her own stained glass project in Magical Art Design taught by Kristin Higgins.

Armando Aguirre, Aidan Ward, Mac Patterson, Mason Shinners and Jack Antonuk improved their mapping skills using new technology (GPS) to find hidden objects and treasures in Geo Mapping. Class taught by Sara Kohlhepp.

Brady Frisque, Kyle Vanney, Bryan Glover and Gavin Denis became scientist for an hour each day. Here they learned to make lava lamps using recycled pop bottles, oil, food coloring and effervescent tablets, in a class taught by Amy Rogers.
School in the summer, like summer itself, is designed to be fun. The School District of Rhinelander offers students a variety of options in its summer school program for grades 3K through 5.
Grades 3K through 2 attend Crescent Elementary and grades 3-5 attend Pelican Elementary. Both levels offer many classes for the students to choose from that offer enrichment, remediation as well as a whole lot of fun.
Students at Crescent were able to rotate through 8 different classes including Dinosaurs, Science, Art, PBIS Playground Games, Spy Kids, Readers Theater, Around the World and Apptastic.
There were sixteen options, from which the older students at Pelican were able to choose 8.
