Irma Langlois, age 88 of Rhinelander, died  Sunday, June 28Langlois, Irma obit pic, 2015 at her residence. Irma was born January 9, 1927 in Rhinelander, to Gustav and Elise (Bruhn) Remus. October 9, 1948 at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Rhinelander, Irma was united in marriage to Edward Langlois. She was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church and looked forward to heaven where she would be with Jesus and her Eddie who she always called “Handsome Papa.”

Irma was a stay at home mom for most of her life, but when the children were older she was employed at Forth Floral and then at South Park School where she served lunches. Irma and Ed enjoyed square dancing, belonging to the Hodag Twirlers. Irma Loved to garden and give bouquets of flowers from her garden to friends and neighbors. She also loved to sew doll clothes and often would purchase a doll and make clothes for it so she could give it to the church bazaar for a raffle. Her children and grandchildren were also the recipients of dolls and the many clothes she made for them. Irma was also a Cub Scout leader for her boys and the Uniform Mistress for the Belles of St. Mary’s when her daughter Teresa was a member. Irma also liked to make Christmas egg ornaments for her family and friends that are still cherished to this day. In 1978 Irma and Ed volunteered to assist a family that came to live in the United States from Vietnam. Irma and Ed also enjoyed traveling to see the National Parks and any gardens that were along the way. Irma loved her grandchildren and enjoyed doing treasure hunts for them in her yard and gardens. Her husband Edward passed away last September and he was dearly missed by Irma. One of the favorite family past times was to sing “Some Sunday Morning” and “A tree in the Meadow” in the car when the family would take a trip. Irma passed away on a Sunday which gives extra meaning to those songs for her children.

She is survived by all of her children; Dennis (Barbara) Langlois of Rhinelander, Joe (Teri) Langlois of Littleton, Colorado, Jon (Mary) Langlois of Rhinelander, Pat (Tammy) Langlois of Rhinelander, Teresa (Don) Minder of Rhinelander, and Angela (Jay) Schaefer of Crandon; fourteen grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson. Irma is further survived by nieces and nephews and other relative and friends. Also surviving Irma are two sisters, Selma Sommers and Katherine (Don) Pecor both of Rhinelander.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Langlois, her parents and a sister, Henny (Richard) DeMeyer. The visitation for Irma will be Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Hildebrand Russ Funeral Home from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow the visitation and will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church – St. Mary’s Site. The Reverend Mike McLain will be officiating.

Interment will take place at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution in honor of Irma will be given to Christian Blind Missions International or for the Argentinean Missionary work of Beth Roberts, a granddaughter of Irma’s.

Hildebrand Russ Funeral Home, 24 E. Davenport St, Rhinelander, WI 54501 – 715-365-4343. Celebrating lives and healing hearts. All are invited to light a candle, sign the online guestbook, leave a photo or an online condolence at www.hildebrandrussfh.com.
