Logging heritage celebrated on Boom Lake

By Eileen Persike
Editor
The second annual Rhinelander Boom Lake Log Jam took over Hodag Park last weekend. While at times there were more raindrops than revelers, the event included a mixture of new and returning events for the entire family.

“We were very happy to bring Rhinelander’s Boom Lake Log Jam back to the Rhinelander area for its second year,” said Rhinelander Area Chamber of Commerce Director Dana DeMet. “We were able to add several fun new aspects to the event including an arts & craft fair, Best Bloody Mary contest, and Paddle Race along the Wisconsin River.”

The Northwestern Lounge in downtown Rhinelander won both the People’s Choice and the Judge’s Choice awards for making the Best Bloody Mary in the Northwoods during the inaugural contest.

“The Log Jam gives Rhinelander area residents and visitors a fun opportunity to celebrate our area’s rich history in a hands-on way that makes it a unique experience for everyone,” DeMet added. “We look forward to continuing to grow the event and make it an annual event that the whole community looks forward to each summer.”
