Food Pantry to benefit from Nicolet College Empty Bowls Event

The Empty Bowls fundraiser to help ease hunger in the Northwoods will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28, in the Nicolet College Learning Resources Center.

Participants will enjoy a tasty meal of soup and bread prepared by students in Nicolet’s Culinary Arts program.  Those attending will also choose a hand-made ceramic bowl crafted by local potters or a wooden bowl made by area wood-turners to take home after the event.

Cost to attend is $15 and all proceeds will go to area food pantries including the Rhinelander Area Food Pantry.  No drinks will be provided, so participants are encouraged to bring their own beverage or water bottle. This is all to raise awareness of what it is like to not have “enough”.

Reservations are required and can be made by contacting Katy Ralph at (715)-365-4556,[email protected], or Vicki Severson at (715)-365-4512, [email protected].  You may leave a message including a name and how many people will be attending.  The deadline to make a reservation is Thursday, April 23.

Anyone looking to volunteer at the event is also encouraged to contact Ralph.

The event is being sponsored by the Nicolet College Employees’ Association, the Nicolet Art Gallery, the Nicolet Culinary Arts Program, and the Ceramics area in the college’s Art Department.
