Obituary: Lucille “Lu” Berndt

Lucille “Lu” J. Berndt, 88, of the Town of Newbold, died Monday, April 13, 2015, at her home. She was born Aug. 11, 1926, in Ogdensburg to William and Julia (Severson) Tanner. She is survived by her husband, Hal Berndt of Rhinelander; four children, Luan Dudley of Wasilla, Alaska, Julie Berndt of Rhinelander, Marti (Tom) Franti of Lincoln, Neb., and Terry (Dawn) Berndt of Rhinelander; seven grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. Mrs. Berndt taught in the School District of Rhinelander for 23 years until her retirement in 1989. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 17, at Carlson Funeral Home and Saturday, April 18, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church. Memorial services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the church with the Reverends Timothy and Kari Vadis officiating. Interment will be in Newbold Cemetery. A memorial is being established in Mrs. Berndt’s name and may be directed to her family at this time. (Carlson Funeral Home)
