The YMCA of the Northwoods has announced the appointment of
CEO Laurie Schlitt. Schlitt accepted a two-year interim contract in April of
2013. According to a press release, she took over in a time of adversity
and united the staff to believe in a vision of stronger community with a
strategic plan to ensure the Y became a community center for years to
come.

 “The board unanimously approved
Laurie Schlitt as the CEO of The YMCA Northwoods,” said YMCA of the
Northwoods Board President Wendy Henrichs.  “Laurie’s
passion and dedication to the mission of the Y, her ability and success
in building relationships with a broad range of community members, her
professionalism at all times, and ability to hire, manage and motivate
the organization are some of the reasons Laurie was hired as our CEO.
The future is bright for the Y, and our community.”

Schlitt
will continue to focus on establishing an endowment fund, concentrate
on collaborations, and serve the community needs with respect and
admiration for the foundation and history of our local YMCA.
