DRI president announces organizational changes
Downtown Rhinelander Incorporated (DRI) has announced changes in its organizational structure and mission focus. The corporation, which is partially funded by Rhinelander’s Business Improvement District (BID), and serves as the operational arm of Rhinelander’s Downtown Main Street program, has reduced staff by 50% by eliminating the position of Office Assistant. In addition, DRI has contracted with a recruitment consultant who will focus their efforts on personally contacting successful businesses in surrounding communities to share economic and demographic information that might encourage those businesses to expand in the Rhinelander area.
Dan Kuzlik, DRI President, stated, “A focus on economic development and business recruitment came about as a result of a strategic planning process which occurred in October of 2014. After reviewing those strategic directions, the DRI board decided to reduce DRI office staff and utilize some of the resources supporting internal staff to hire the consultant.”
Kuzlik went on to say, “We were very fortunate to be able to hire Dr. Sally Latimer, of Global Solutions International, to serve as our business recruiter. Dr. Latimer holds Bachelor, Master and Doctoral degrees, and has managed programs with budgets exceeding $8 million. She also has multiple years of experience working as an accountant for the Control Data Corporation in the Twin Cities of Minnesota.”
DRI will continue to organize and support events which in this past year broughtapproximately 19,000 people to the streets of downtown Rhinelander as well as to support downtown businesses with technical advice, organizational leadership and strategic efforts under the direction of its Executive Director, Maggie Steffen.
Businesses requesting additional information regarding retention support can contact Executive Director Steffen at 715-362-7374 and for downtown business opportunities, Dr. Latimer at 715-360-0066.
