Salvation Army still accepting donations
The bell ringers may no longer be greeting shoppers throughout town, but the Salvation Army is still accepting donations. To date the organization has raised approximately $24,400 of its $35,000 goal.Donations can be mailed by mailing a check to The Rhinelander Salvation Army, P.O. Box 1081, Rhinelander; texting RHINELANDER to 71777; or online at OnlineRedKettle.org. 86 cents of every dollar raised stays in the community.
According to a press release, the Salvation Army has partnered with Rhinelander ACES (Area Churches for Emergency Support) to use contributions more efficiently. Recognizing the increased need, eight churches have come together to work with the Rhinelander Salvation Army to create a unified effort to serve our community. Rhinelander ACES is comprised of Calvary Baptist, First Congregational UCC, First United Methodist, Immanuel Lutheran, Grace Foursquare, Nativity of Our Lord, North Country Vineyard and Trinity Lutheran.
The Rhinelander Salvation Army assists individuals and families with emergency housing, transportation and medical needs. This often includes lodging, gas cards, and assistance with paying for vital medications. The organization also supports an annual school backpack program, providing school supplies to more than 200 local children. Support is also provided to local organizations including the Frederick Place shelter.
