On Nov. 8, 27 general and vocal music students in grades five through 12 participated in the 22nd music festival “Singing in Wisconsin.” Sponsored by the Wisconsin Choral Directors Association, the festival took place at four sites around the state—Appleton, Chippewa Falls, West Milwaukee and Wausau—where singers performed the same songs at concerts held simultaneously.

Three Lakes School District students attended the festival at Wausau West High School, which included four groups: Youth Choir (grades 5 and 6), Young Women’s Choir (grades 7, 8 and 9), Young Men’s Choir (grades 7, 8, and 9), and the High School Choir (grades 10 through 12).

Singers from Sugar Camp who sang in the Youth Choir were: Eleanor Domnick, Zoie
McDonald, Margaret Mouw, Jasmine Neumann, Kara Sowinski and Mari Szews.

Three Lakes students in the Youth Choir were: Shaun Kubiak, Emily LeBuis, Megan
Lester, Hunter St. Louis, Kylee Swendson, Olivia Terlizzi and Emily Vold.

Singing with the Young Men’s Choir were: David Kaufman, Griffin Schroeder and
Nathaniel Aldag.

Young Women’s Choir members were: Haili Chavez, Aubrey Krajewski, Christinia Kubiak, Hadley Miles, Tiffiny Ruffie, Emily Schmitt, Elizabeth Vold, Ayla Fairchild and Cara Swendson,

Anya Fairchild and Alexis Martzahl sang in the High School Mixed Choir.

Singers learned four songs and rehearsed all day with guest clinicians, then performed during a 4 p.m. concert, which was attended by a large audience, including many parents and family members of Sugar Camp and Three Lakes students.
Participation at the Singing in Wisconsin festival is for elementary music and choir students whose teacher is a member of the Wisconsin Choral Directors Association. Mrs. Lisa Smetana is the choir director for the Three Lakes School District.
