DNR announces 2014 deer hunt rule changes
After a state-wide review of deer management, started in 2011, DNR and other contributers have made a series of changes.
The most significant, a change that affects 19 counties—?including Oneida, Vilas, Forest and Lincoln counties—is a return to buck-only hunting.
The DNR is making itself available for questions and concerns of the rule changes, and can be reached in their offices or can be reached over the phone at 1-(888) 936-7463. A summmary of the changes can be found on the DNR website.
“The department is asking for your flexibility and understanding as we move through this first year of the new rule changes,” said John Gozdzialski, DNR Secretary’s Director of Northern Wisconsin, in a prepared statement. “It is up to all of us who enjoy the sport to make sure we are successful and continue to improve deer hunting in Wisconsin.”
