Future of Oneida County Fair in question
A public forum will be held on Nov. 18 to determine the fate of the Oneida County Fair.
Public funding for the event is decreasing, according to fair officials, so the Future of the Fair Forum will be held to gather input on ways to sustain the fair, or whether the fair should even continue.
“Without public input about sustainability, it is very likely that the fair would cease to exist,” said fair officials in a prepared statement. “The fair cannot remain sustainable without a continual flow of money, ideas and leadership,”
At the meeting, officials will try to create a five-year fair sustainability plan to start the fair off on a road to self-dependence.
The public event will take place at the Quality Inn, Rhinelander, at 6 p.m. on Nov. 18. The fair’s staff and volunteers are encouraging anyone interested in seeing the fair continue in Oneida County to attend.
