Rhinelander’s Terry Friese sells Grace Lodge to Wausau couple

After a 39-year career working in long term care, Terry Friese is moving on to the next chapter of his life. The end of the month, he and his wife, Lynne turn ownership of Grace Lodge over to Dr. Cal Sprik and Susan Tobin. Sprik is a partner in the ownership of the Eye Clinic of Wisconsin. Friese was looking for an orderly transition of the facility, now in it’s 11th year, and it was important to him to sell to a person, not an entity.

“My wife Lynne and I wanted there to be a face and a personality associated with Grace Lodge, the residents and employees,” Friese said. “Cal and Susan will provide that continuity of values we were looking for.”

Sprik and Tobin had been looking at their ‘plan B’ as well, and had been interested in assisted living for awhile. When they learned of Grace Lodge, everything fell into place. Tobin grew up in Sugar Camp, and Sprik had been seeing patients at the Rhinelander office of the Eye Clinic of Wisconsin for years.

“We talked with people, and everyone we spoke with likes it here,” said Sprik.”The residents, employees, and even the facility are well taken care of. This is exactly what we had been looking for.”

The sale will be finalized October 31st.
