Wisconsin Public Service (WPS) reports that two robbers stole money from a Green Bay homeowner on Sept. 30 after they gained access to his home by posing as WPS employees. After the phony workers left the residence, the homeowner realized he had been robbed and called WPS to report the incident. The suspects were driving a white full-size truck with a flat bed and rails. A similar situation has also been reported in Oshkosh.

Customers throughout the WPS service area should be aware that legitimate WPS employees carry identification cards. Customers with doubts about the legitimacy of its employees who come to their homes should contact WPS at 800-450-7260 to verify the employee’s identity, or they should contact local law enforcement.

WPS also reports an increase in phone scams at their call center. WPS reminds customers not to provide any confidential information to unknown persons over the telephone or in person.
