Business Close-up: Laundry and ice cream at Soap ?N Suds and What?s the Scoop

Whether you have a load of laundry to do or are hungry for an ice cream cone, the Soap ‘N Suds Laundromat and What’s the Scoop ice cream parlor in Woodruff can accommodate both.
This all-in-one Laundromat and ice cream parlor provides plenty of options for those looking to do one load of laundry or an entire household of bedding including sleeping bags and comforters. Owned and operated by Mike and Sally Winger, this business has been part of the downtown Woodruff scene for 15 years.
And the Wingers have kept up on all the modern technology too when it comes to the types of washing machines and dryers they have available. For instance, all the machines not only take coins but debit and credit cards as well.
“We have found that this is very convenient for our customers,” said Sally. “It cuts down on having to worry about getting quarters.”
However, for those who like to use coins, there are a couple of change machines ready for use.
The machines here are also modern. Many are digital and there are plenty of “jumbo” models for those bigger loads and laundry items. In addition, there is a drop off laundry service provided and the Wingers have recently installed a new soft water system for cleaner and brighter loads of clothes.
Waiting for a load to wash and dry is no problem, either. The Soap ‘N Suds is air conditioned during warmer days and also has free Wi-Fi for those who want to do a little Internet surfing to make the time pass.
And while your laundry is in the machines, treat yourself to an ice cream treat in the What’s the Scoop ice cream parlor that is also part of this business. Here customers can enjoy ice cream made by the famous Chocolate Shoppe in addition to fat-free soft serve yogurt. There are cones, including sugar or waffle, (the waffle cones are baked fresh every day) flurries, malts and shakes, smoothies and soda pop. Turtle sundaes are also a hit along with banana splits, strawberry shortcake, hot fudge sundaes and even a banana fudge sundae. In addition, all-beef frankfurters are also available. However, with the warmer months winding down, the ice cream shop will close in a few weeks and is only open during the summer months.
There is still plenty of beautiful weather to enjoy the backyard gazebo built just for Laundromat customers, and while this business is on the main thoroughfare of Woodruff, there is plenty of parking in the back of the building.
Soap ‘N Suds Laundry is located at 816 Hwy. 47 in Woodruff, next to Walgreens. It is open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day of the week. They have a Facebook page and the website address is soapnsudslaundry.com. The phone number is 715-356-2726.
