Rhinelander District Library board hires new director
Following a three month search, the Rhinelander District Library has a new director. According to Board President Jan Baer, Virginia Roberts will begin her duties the end of October. “Virginia was our first choice all along,” Baer said, “she is very well qualified and we are very happy to have her.” The library board received a dozen applications for the job, and interviewed four candidates.
Currently the Director at the Chippewa Falls Public Library, Roberts has a master’s degree in library science, and a master’s degree in art history. Roberts has family in the area, which is one reason she wanted to move north. She is married and has two teenage children.
Children’s Librarian Tom Hurlburt has been the interim director at the library since Ed Hughes left his post the end of May
