Power restoration efforts continue
Storm restoration work continues this morning, but slowly according to a Wisconsin Public Service spokesperson. New storms rolled through last night in the Green Bay and Door County areas creating additional outages. As of 4:15 this morning, there are 26,366 customers without power. WPS has more than 80 contractors who worked through the night and into the morning. WPS Crews and contractors will be working 16 hours days to continue the restoration process in a safe and efficient manner. It is expected that some areas will be without power into Saturday.
Several other utilities will advise the company this morning if they are able to send additional assistance. Those utilities are currently also watching weather patterns within their own service territories. If they escape weather issues they will be able to assist WPS restoration efforts.
WPS crews have indicated the extent of the damage includes numerous pole fires, broken poles, up rooted trees, trees down and branches on lines caused the damages which have left 1000’s without power.
Residents are reminded to follow safety procedures during the power outages.
