Obituary: Derald W. McKenzie

Derald W. McKenzie, 89 of Rhinelander died Monday, Aug. 25, 2014, at Friendly Village Nursing and Rehab. He was born on July 13, 1925, in Rhinelander to Floyd and Mae (Tucker) McKenzie. Derald is survived by his wife, Barbara Datel Crawford McKenzie; his children, Shelley (Sam) White of Oklahoma City, OK, Sara (Mitch) L’Herault of Verona, WI, David (Lynn) McKenzie of Cottage Grove, WI, William (Linda) McKenzie of Rhinelander, Michael (Angela) McKenzie of Madison, WI, Patti (Doug) Brunette of Athelstane, WI, Vicki (Jack) Weigman of Tomahawk, and Scott (Judy) Crawford of Minocqua; 20 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Richard (Jeanie) McKenzie and Robert (Julie) McKenzie both of Rhinelander. He is further survived by his first wife Phyllis Haack, mother of his five children. He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Lindsay McKenzie; great grandson, Zachary Christopher Michael Junio; sister, Nancy Sheldon; and three brothers, Eugene, James, and Jack McKenzie. Funeral services for Derald will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 29, 2014, at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church with Revs. Richard Krahn and Matthew Schoell officiating. Visitation will take place on Friday at the church with open casket viewing from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. at which time the casket will be closed and visitation with the family will continue until the time of service at 1 p.m. (Carlson Funeral Home).In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial will be established in Derald’s name and contributions may be directed in care of his family.
