The 2nd Annual Trig’s PotatoFest is only a mere week away (Saturday, August 30th), and I hope you are ready. For those of you that are asking why potatoes…in a potato skin, Wisconsin is ranked 3rd in the country for potato growing and Rhinelander develops many types and supplies a high percentage of the plants used yearly by the growers.
This year’s festival has the favorites you loved last year including:
Masonic Lodge Potato Pancake Breakfast
Littlest Spud Race (Crawling Babies)
YMCA’s Couch Potato Race
Golden Potato Dig
Tator Tot Parade
Tasty Taters Potato Salad Contest
Mashed Potato and Rhinelander Chrysler French Fry Eating Contests
Kid’s Activities, Hodag Spud Sling, Potato Sack Race
Craft and food vendors

New features include:
Alice in Dairyland-Zoey Brooks
Peoples State Bank 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament
Guns N Hoses (Police vs Firefighters) Potato Peeling Contest
Rhinelander GM Duck Regatta (Did you buy your duck yet?)
AND the Wisconsin Vegetable & Potato Growers “Spudmobile” a  40’ walk- in RV that contains eight exhibits, using interactive technology that is fun and interesting at any age.
The FREE festival also has live music.  Starting at 11:00 a.m. the Rhinelander Community Band plays, followed by Scott Kirby and Friends, Nikki & The Nimrods ending with The Dweebs starting at 8:00 p.m.
Busy Saturday?  Wish PotatoFest was longer?  We have also added the Rhinelander Honda “Rhinelander Reunion Jam”.  This addition is FRIDAY night, Aug. 29th from 5:00 -11:00 p.m.  Two bands with local musicians, Deep Water Reunion and Whitehouse Players will be playing.  Don’t worry about missing your fish fry, the Rhinelander Café & Pub will provide a fish fry right in the tent.
All of this takes place in Downtown Rhinelander, and none of this would happen without the support of our sponsors.  Some I mentioned above, here are the rest.  Thank you all:  NRG Media, Frasiers Plumbing & Heating, Northland Orthopedic, Days Inn & Suites, Deans Distributing, Printpack, Jim & Kaye Dyreby, Walmart, BMO Harris, Heck Capital Advisors, Pat’s Tavern, O’Melia, Schiek & McEldowney, Wipfli LLC, Shoreline Title, Farmers Insurance-Dan Meyer, Draeger Propone and NOW Equipment.
Downtown Rhinelander Inc. and Tri-County Council-Lily’s House hope to see you there!
