Video: Fire Drill at Rhinelander/Oneida County Airport
A training session took place this afternoon at the Rhinelander/Oneida County Airport with a mock fuselage that was put on fire. Wade Boyat and Jerry Huberty, aircraft firefighting instructors, from Duluth International Airport brought the fuselage to Rhinelander’s airport so Rhinelander airport firefighters could train on the new fire truck the airport just recently acquired. The fuselage was put on fire using remote propane torches. The fuselage was specially designed by Huberty and Boyat and their business is ARFF Specialists, which is based out of Hermantown, Minn. They take the simulator to more than 40 airports throughout the Midwest to train local airport firefighters. This training is required by the FAA once a year.
