Eileen Persike, a long time resident of the Rhinelander area, is a graduate of St. Cloud State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communications. She has been an employee of the Star Journal for nine years serving as an account executive. Prior to joining the Star Journal team, she was a local television news anchor and reporter in several markets including Rhinelander, Wausau, and Sioux Falls.

“We always knew we had great untapped news-gathering talent within Eileen, so we are all very pleased she has accepted this promotion to editor. She is an exceptional writer and communicator in general.” Says general manager Pete Daniels. Adding, “She has been deeply involved in the community for a long time and is in-touch with the people and issues that are meaningful here”.

Persike says “I am very pleased to be able to return to the news gathering part of this business and to be able to do it with this company”.

Michelle Miller will be taking over Eileen’s duties as account executive. Miller, a graduate of the University of Wisconsin La Crosse, brings a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing, Public Relations, and Organizational Communications to her new position. She also brings 10 years of experience in marketing, advertising, merchandising and promotion planning gained at Drs. Foster and Smith and Best Buy Co., Inc. corporate offices.

Eileen enjoys volunteering for community events and currently serves as vice president of the Rhinelander Area Chamber  of Commerce board of directors.  She spends her free time gardening, camping, and traveling with her family, which includes husband Bryan, and sons Matt and Brevin.

She will begin her duties as editor on Monday, August 11 and can be reached at epersike@mmclocal.com.
