Ministry Health Care welcomed Julia Pickens, MD, to Ministry Medical Group’s pediatrics department. She will be providing care at Ministry Medical Group, 2251 North Shore Dr. in Rhinelander.
As a pediatrician, Dr. Pickens cares for children from birth to early adulthood. She specializes in diseases and ailments specific to young and growing bodies and can manage the physical, mental and emotional well-being of children in every stage of development. She has a special interest in caring for newborns and promoting the benefits of breastfeeding; and in obesity screening and prevention for pediatric patients.
Dr. Pickens received her medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. She completed her pediatric residency at Advocate Hope Children’s Hospital in Oak Lawn, Ill., and her undergraduate degree is from Wheaton College in Wheaton, Ill.
“I enjoy working with pediatric patients and their families,” said Dr. Pickens. “Kids today face a lot of challenges to their health–including childhood obesity. I strongly believe that when the family makes the right choices, the child has a much better chance of being a healthy adult. My role is to help my patients and their families establish and activate a plan that leads to lifelong wellness.”
